The Women of Flower Mound organization is pleased to announce the Helen H. Johns Memorial STEAM Scholarship. It was created in 2018, in memory of Helen H. Johns, a founding member of our organization who passed away June 26, 2018. Those of us who had the privilege of knowing and working with Helen remember her as a smart, determined and successful woman. She was curious, high spirited, feisty and fun! Helen's obituary correctly stated that "Relative to the times and the era, Helen Johns was a genuine pioneer woman, an iconic figure who lived an interesting life as a memeber of the greatest generation and went on to become an enduring part of the cultural foundation of present day Flower Mound."

We wanted Helen's memorial scholarship to mirror her personality; we thought that if she were a young woman today, Helen's natural curiosity and her desire to have an impact on the world would have led her to pursue STEAM studies. 

We have a great hope that the recipients of the Helen H. Johns Memorial STEAM Scholarship will use their studies to improve our amazing world and leave it a better place for future generations.

• The Helen H. Johns Memorial STEAM Scholarship will be awarded annually to a female graduate from a Flower Mound area high school who is pursuing a degree in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math) curriculum. 

• Scholarship award is based on the applicant's academic achievement, career goals, leadership and financial need.

• The amount of the scholarship will be determined annually by the Women of Flower Mound Board of Directors.
